Regulation in France
Who regulates online sports betting in France?
The Autorité Nationale des Jeux (ANJ), an independent administrative authority created in 2020 that succeeded ARJEL. It issues licences, supervises operators, approves promotional strategies and maintains the national gambling exclusion register.
How do I check that an operator is licensed?
Check the official register published by the ANJ: https://anj.fr/offre-de-jeu-et-marche/operateurs-agrees. Search for the licence holder’s exact registered company name, not only the trading name shown on the homepage. An operator absent from that list is not authorised in France.
What is the legal age?
18 years old, with no exception. Every licensed operator runs an identity check (KYC) and blocks all withdrawals until it is complete. Anyone listed on the gambling exclusion register held by the ANJ can neither open nor use an account.
Are winnings taxable in France?
For a private bettor, winnings from sports betting with a licensed operator are not subject to income tax, because taxation is levied upstream at the operator. This is general information and not tax advice: for your own situation, consult a professional or your local tax office.
Can an operator licensed in Malta or Curaçao operate in France?
No. A licence issued by another jurisdiction does not amount to authorisation in France. Only an ANJ licence permits offering online sports betting to an audience resident in France. We list no operator without a French licence.
Our comparison
Does PariSportCentral take bets?
No. We are exclusively an editorial publication. We take no bets, hold no funds belonging to any user and carry out no licensable activity.
How are the ratings calculated?
The overall rating is a weighted average of five criteria: odds and margins (25%), in-play markets (25%), mobile app (20%), French-language customer support (15%) and moderation tools (15%). The full protocol is published on our methodology page.
How do you make money?
Through commercial links to the operators we review. When a reader opens an account via one of those links, we may earn a commission — at no extra cost to them. The exact mechanism is set out in our advertising disclosure.
Does payment influence the ranking?
No. The scorecard is fixed before any commercial negotiation, the ranking is sorted by rating, and weaknesses are published including for our partners. No position, no badge and no removal of a negative point is for sale.
Do you publish betting tips?
No. We publish no tips, no systems presented as winning and no promise of returns. No strategy makes betting profitable in the long run: the mathematical edge belongs structurally to the operator.
How often are the reviews updated?
Odds sampling is weekly. Every review is re-read in full and re-dated each quarter. The last revision date appears at the top of each review.
I spotted a factual error — what should I do?
Write to us through the contact form, choosing the subject “Report a factual error”. Any confirmed correction is applied within two working days and flagged at the foot of the review concerned.
Data and cookies
Which cookies do you set?
One technical cookie storing your consent choice and — only if you accept — aggregated audience measurement. No third-party advertising tracker is set without prior agreement. See the cookie policy.
How do I change my consent?
Click “Cookie preferences” at the bottom of any page: the consent panel reappears and your new choice immediately replaces the previous one.
How do I exercise my GDPR rights?
Write to contact@parisportcentral.com stating your request (access, rectification, erasure, objection, portability). We reply within one month. Details in the privacy policy.
Responsible gambling
How do I recognise problem gambling?
Some signals: staking amounts that were not budgeted, chasing a loss, hiding your activity from those around you, borrowing in order to stake, or noticing an impact on sleep, work or relationships. An anonymous self-assessment is available at evalujeu.fr.
How do I request a gambling ban?
A voluntary gambling ban is requested directly from the ANJ. It lasts three years, applies to every operator licensed in France and cannot be lifted before it expires. Our responsible gambling page explains the procedure.
